No Covid Transmission Through Food or Packaging

The CDC and USDA have now found that there is no evidence of food or food packaging associated with contracting Covid-19. Covid is a respiratory condition that is spread from person to person. The chance of picking up infection from touching packaging or food is low to non-existent. Literature reviews and analysis from other countries confirm this statement.

Some of my patients are still washing packages. They should see this as good news that they can now use that time doing something else because it isn't helping. What does help? Masks! The science could not be more clear. Universal mandatory masking policies reduce infections and hospitalizations and death. The states that do not have mask mandates have more infection/population than those who do and the states that mandated masks saw infection rates decline. Everyone needs to be wearing a mask while in public.
